PuddleDuck

Nancy Hundal, the award-winning author of I Heard My Mother Call My Name and November Boots, has created another beautifully evocative picture book. Puddleduck is the story of a little girl who loses her beloved stuffed duck and her attempts to deal with its disappearance.

Think back in time to when you lost a cherished stuffed animal; think of the feeling of loss, the empty space in the crook of your arm, even though you’re cuddled cozily in your father’s lap. Nancy Hundal’s memories are like that – child-sized, lyrical creations – that are transformed into instant bedtime classics.

Illustrated with Stephen Taylor’s softly expressive drawings, Puddleduck ends on a note of fresh honesty that is, at the same time, warmly nostalgic. It is a wonderful story for both children and adults.
