Publishing Update

Great news!

A couple years ago, I decided to write a middle grade novel focusing on an angel, a fairy, a
mermaid and a witch. As a kid, I loved so many different kinds of books, but one was definitely
stories about the supernatural, and especially, these four beings. I was enchanted by Eleanor
Estes’ The Witch Family, which included not only witches, but mermaids, as well.

So this middle grade novel allowed me to go back and have fun with my own version of
characters I enjoyed so long ago. The novel is told from all four characters’ points of view, and
each character needed to be unique enough that it was easy to identify who was who when a
new section started.

I’ve been shopping it around for a while and was thrilled to get a positive response and now a
contract from Rebel Mountain Press, a publisher in Nanoose Bay on Vancouver Island. I can
hardly wait to see my four girls in print, complete with wings, tails and pointy hats. The planned
publishing date is September 2023, so they won’t be flying this way immediately…but they’re
coming!

Spring’s Gifts

Spring’s Gifts

Spring so far has been lots of rain, some time in the desert, some writing, and now… a new baby in the family!

The rain, we all know about.

The desert was an amazing time spent checking out the gorgeous canyons of Utah and Arizona. Here’s a photo in Antelope Canyon, where a Navajo tour guide took us deep into the canyon to admire the sandstone and tell us his people’s history there. (The desert was also a very nice break from the… you guessed it… rain!)
